I am a thoracic surgeon at a large renowned academic medical center. I operate on patients who arent able to eat because their esophagus is not connected to their stomach after esophagectomy (removal of part of the esophagectomy) for various conditions. I specialize in reconstructing (reconnecting) the esophagus which is a large, complex and risky surgery. My best day in healthcare is when I sit down and share a meal with a patient who hasnt eaten one in years!
